London, Ontario (Sports Network) – Trevor Murphy carded a 3-under 69 on Sunday
and grabbed a 1-stroke lead after three rounds of the Tour Championship of
Canada.

Murphy, who will go for his first PGA Tour Canada win on Sunday, ended 54
holes at 15-under-par 201 at Sunningdale Golf & Country Club’s Championship
Course.

Alex Kang (67) and Max Gilbert (66) are tied for second at minus-14, while
Brock Mackenzie (67) and Mark Hubbard (68) are two strokes back at 12-under
204 and are tied for fourth.

The tournament finally caught up after a long weather delay on Thursday
stopped play for over five hours. When the second round ended earlier
Saturday, Murphy led by three strokes.

Murphy coughed up that lead early in the third round as he stumbled to bogeys
at one and four. After four pars in a row, he got one stroke back with a
birdie on the par-5 ninth.

The 27-year-old Arizona resident carded back-to-back birdies from the 11th to
move to 13-under. He dropped another stroke on the 14th.

Murphy closed his round in strong fashion as he birdied three of the last four
holes to finish one clear of the field.

Kang birdied the first and ninth, both par-5s, to make the turn at 11-under.
He continued his strong play on the par-5s with eagles on 12 and 15. He was in
the lead at 15-under at that point, but tripped to a bogey on No. 17 to fall
into a share of second.

Gilbert carded three consecutive birdies from the fourth to move to 11-under.
He also birdied the ninth, 13th and 17th to gain a piece of second place.

NOTES: Defending champion Eugene Wong managed a 1-under 71 and slid into a
share of sixth at 9-under 207 … The top-five players on the Order of Merit
after this event will gain Web.com Tour status for next season.
