Baylor makes easy work of Hardin-Simmons

Waco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – Cory Jefferson scored 16 points and grabbed 10
rebounds to lead the Baylor Bears to a 104-59 victory over the Hardin-Simmons
Cowboys.

Rico Gathers had 17 points and nine rebounds and Brady Heslip added 17 points
for Baylor (7-1), which will face Kentucky Friday.

Cameron Barnes scored 15 points and John Barnes added 12 points for the
Cowboys (0-4), who have not beaten Baylor since 1936-37 season.

The Cowboys led four times and tied the game three times until Baylor began a
20-4 run with 15:23 left in the first half. Ish Wainright started the run with
a layup and his foul on John Barnes with 10:19 left in the half ended the run.

The Bears did not let up following the run and Hardin-Simmons would not come
within double digits for the rest of the game.

At the half, the Bears led 52-27.

Baylor continued to pour it on and after a Gathers layup with 13:02 remaining
the Cowboys would not come within 30 points as the Bears cruised to victory.

Baylor has won the last 10 matchups against the Cowboys and lead the series
18-12 … Taurean Prince scored 13, Isaiah Austin had 12 and Gary Franklin
added 10 points for Baylor.
