Williams leads unbeaten UMass past BYU

Springfield, MA (SportsNetwork.com) – Chaz Williams scored a career-high 32
points on 9-of-14 shooting to lead the 21st-ranked Massachusetts Minutemen to
a 105-96 victory over BYU in the Hall of Fame Holiday Showcase.

Williams, one of six UMass players in double-figure scoring, also registered a
personal-best 15 assists for the Minutemen (8-0), who are off to their best
start since opening 26-0 in 1995-96.

Sampson Carter also set a career high with 20 points, Raphiael Putney supplied
15 and Maxie Esho totaled 12 to go with six rebounds and two blocks.

Tyler Haws led the Cougars (7-3) with 25 points, while Matt Carlino
contributed 23 points and six assists.
