Black Caps secure series win

New Zealand took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3 match series when they defeated hosts South Africa by 27 runs in Kimberley.

Batting first New Zealand set a competitive 279, Kane Williamson scoring a New Zealand record 145 not out, eclipsing the previous mark of  134 set by Stephen Flemming in 2003.

In reply, the Proteas appeared to be cruising and were well ahead of the run-rate with wickets in hand. At the end of 25 overs, South Africa were 135/1 compared with the Black Caps’ 106/2 at the same stage, until 5 run-outs halted the Proteas progress and handed victory to the New Zealanders.
