India and South Africa out of the T20 World Cup

Australia qualified for the semifinals of the ICC World T20, despite losing by 32 runs to Pakistan in Colombo. They will now face the West Indies in the semifinals.

Pakistan 149 for 6 (Jamshed 55, Starc 3-20) beat Australia 117 for 7 (Hussey 54*, Ajmal 3-17) by 32 runs

Before the Proteas took to the field it was all over for them. With Pakistan beating Australia it became all about pride for De Villiers and his team. India still had a slim chance however the equations needed to be in their favour during their game against South Africa. Batting first India set 152-6. They needed to keep their opponents to under 121. This they couldn’t mainly down to a superb innings by Du Plessis, however they did manage to dismiss South Africa 1run shy of the victory target to end on a high.

Both sides will be very disappointed with their efforts during this world cup, especially South Africa. The second of the semi finals will feature Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
