India eased to a comfortable win on the last day of the first Test against England at Ahmedabad. Chasing 77 to win, India cruised to victory in the 16th over for the loss of only Sehwag, giving the home team a comprehensive 9 wicket win.

After the first innings collapse by England, it was a much improved performance in the second innings as Cook with a superb 176 and Prior with 91 briefly gave England hope that they might just survive, however Ojha removed Cook who had been at the crease for just over 9 hours, setting up the win, with figures of 4-120 and 9-264 for the match.

The second Test begins on Friday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India are very much in control and considering the struggle the England batsman seem to be having with spin, expect another good showing by the home team.

India 521 for 8 dec (Pujara 206*, Sehwag 117, Swann 5-144) and 80 for 1 (Pujara 41*) beat England 191 (Ojha 5-45) and 406 (Cook 176, Prior 91, Ojha 4-120) by nine wickets
