Pietersen ton gives England control

Kevin Pieterssen scored his 22nd Test hundred while Swann and Panesar reduced India to 117-7 at stumps on day 3 putting England on the brink of leveling the series.

Kevin Pietersen was out for 186  his 22nd test century  having faced 233 balls, Alastair Cook also equalled the England record for the number of test tons, 22, before edging Ashwin to Mahendra Singh Dhoni for 122. Cook and Pietersen added 206 runs for the third wicket.

Panesar and Swann followed up the batting exploits with a superb spell of bowling that his resulted in India having a paltry 31 run lead.

India 327 and 117 for 7 (Gambhir 53*, Panesar 5-61) lead England 413 (Pietersen 186, Cook 122, Ojha 5-143) by 31 runs
