Proteas crush Black Caps at Newlands

South Africa thrashed New Zealand within 3 days by a comprehensive innings and 27 run margin in the first Test in Cape Town. It was a masterclass in both innings by the no.1 ranked Protea’s bowling attack as they followed up their first innings rout of the visitors, by dismissing them for 275 in the second.

Dale Steyn took three wickets while Vernon Philander and Jacques Kallis took two apiece. Morne Morkel and Robin Peterson took the remaining two wickets.

Philander was awarded man of the match for his 7 wickets in the match, in particular his 5 for 7 in the first time out.

The second Test begins in Port Elizabeth on the 11th of January.
