Shane Watson continued his remarkable form, steering Australia to another comprehensive 8 wicket win, this time over South Africa.

Doherty took 3-20, restricting the Proteas to 146/5, simply not enough considering the form of Watson since the tournament begun. He never disappointed, scoring a superb 70 off 47 balls. Michael Hussey played the perfect foil in a 99 run partnership with Watson, eventually seeing them home with 14 balls to spare, Hussey himself scoring a valuable 45.

South Africa have left themselves an uphill battle to get through to the semifinals, they will need Pakistan to lose to both India and Australia, while they will have to beat India in comprehensive fashion, and hope their net run rate gets them through.

Australia 147 for 2 (Watson 70) beat South Africa 146 for 5 (Peterson 32*, Doherty 3-20) by 8 wickets

Virat Kohli’s 78 not out lifted India to a decisive and much-needed eight-wicket win over rivals Pakistan.

Pakistan only managed to score 128, India getting there with ease.

India 129 for 2 (Kohli 78, Sehwag 29) beat Pakistan 128 (Malik 28, Balaji 3-22, Ashwin 2-16, Yuvraj 2-16) by eight wickets
