Groningen, Netherlands (Sports Network) – Groningen put an end to its four-
game winless run in emphatic fashion on Saturday by running out at the
Euroborg to a 4-1 defeat of RKC Waalwijk.

RKC Waalwijk was dealt a major blow in the 37th minute when Jonas Ivens was
sent off, but the home side was unable to capitalize on the extra man until
the 68th minute when Nick Van der Velden opened the scoring.

Genero Zeefuik doubled Groningen’s advantage two minutes later, but RKC
Waalwijk cut the deficit half within three minutes thanks to Aurelien
Joachim’s strike.

Groningen maintained the narrow margin until the dying moments when Krisztian
Adorjan and Michael de Leeuw produced a goal apiece in stoppage time to seal
the win.

The result sees Groningen claim its third Eredivisie win of the season,
lifting the club to 11 points through seven matches. RKC Waalwijk has lost
three straight league matches to remain on five points.
