London, England (Sports Network) – Argentine forward Erik Lamela is set for a
move to Tottenham-Hotspur from AS Roma after the Serie A club accepted a 25.7
million pound bid on Wednesday.

The deal for the 21-year-old also includes up to 4.2 million pounds in bonus
payments and brings Spurs summer spending total to roughly 85 million pounds.

He scored 19 goals in two seasons with Roma and becomes Spurs’ fifth major
signing of the summer, joining Roberto Soldado, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue and
Nacer Chadli. His arrival could help fill the void if winger Gareth Bale’s
world-record transfer to Real Madrid goes through.

“Roma announce they have signed a contract with Tottenham for the outright sale
of the playing rights of Erik Lamela, in exchange for 30 million euros,” a
statement read on Roma’s official website.

Additionally, Roma have already moved to replace Lamela by signing Serbian
forward Adem Ljajic for 11 million euros from Fiorentina.
