Arsenal ended its nine-year trophy drought on Saturday, coming from two goals...
Liverpool move to the top with Spurs rout
Liverpool took advantage of dropped points by Chelsea and Manchester City when they routed Tottenham 4-0 for their 8th consecutive win moving them top of the Premiership.
Spurs defender Younes Kaboul opened the scoring in the second minute when he turned in a cross from Raheem Sterling at point blank range.
In the 25th minute the superb Suarez got behind the Spurs defence to double the advantage for the Reds, his 29th goal of the season.
Liverpool continued to apply pressure to Tottenham’s defence in the second half, Philippe Coutinho scoring his 4th goal of the season in the 54th minute with Jordan Henderson finishing off a brilliant afternoon for the home fans when his free kick somehow made it through a sea of bodies to complete the scoreline.
The win puts Liverpool back on top by 2 points ahead of Chelsea, both sides having played 32 games. Manchester City remain the major threat with 67 points and 2 games in hand.
The defeat for Spurs all but ended their hopes for Champions League football next season.
Earlier in the day Everton kept up the pressure on Arsenal in fourth when they recorded a 3-1 win over Fulham at Goodison Park to leave them 4 points behind the Gunners.
