Red Bull on Sazuka front row

Red Bull underlined their speed at Sazuka with a 1-2 in qualifying, double world champion Vettel securing his 4th consecutive pole in Japan. Team mate Mark Webber lines up alongside the German.

McLaren were expected to push the Red Bulls, Hamilton coming in a disappointing 9th, while Button despite registering the 3rd quickest time starts 8th following his 5 place grid penalty for an unscheduled gear box change.

Japan’s Kamui Kobayashi in a Sauber delighted the home fans with 3rd, with Grosjean, Perez and Alonso 4th, 5th and 6th.

The championship race is still alive with Vettel only 29 points behind Alonso.
