Robben edges Bayern closer to domestic title.

Arjen Robben piled more misery on Schalke scoring a hat-trick in a 5-1 thrashing at the Allianz Arena.

Schalke was hammered 6-1 midweek by Real Madrid and a similar thrashing on Saturday at the hands of Bayern has ended a week they would rather forget about.

The win sees Bayern move 20 points clear as they remain on course to win the Bundesliga in March, a new record.

Borussia Dortmund jumped into second place after a 3-0 victory over Nurnberg behind goals from Mats Hummels, Robert Lewandowski and Henrik Mkhitaryan, while Bayer Leverkusen slipped to third after losing 1-0 to Mainz through a first-half goal from Maxim Choupo-Moting.
