First blood US in Ryder Cup opening day.

A dominate first day by the Americans, especially in the afternoon has given them the early ascendancy in the 39th Ryder Cup finishing the day 5-3 up.

Other than Woods and Stricker who lost both their matches, the US team came out firing, especially Bradley and Mickelson that didn’t even need to play 36 holes to get their points.

Love will not want to break their momentum and surely will keep them as a pair going today. Woods and Stricker will be rested in the morning and will hopefully be on better form in the afternoon session.

One problem after day one that love doesn’t have is to many players misfiring. His opposite number Olazabel however does. Other than Colsaerts who putted beautifully, the rest need to lift their games and try to establish some sort of lead going into tomorrows singles, a part of the format they always excel at.
