Higuain hat-trick consolidates third for Napoli

A hat trick from Gonzalo Higuain allowed Napoli to strengthen its hold on third place with a 4-2 home victory against Lazio while Juventus strolled to a 2-0 win over Udinese.

The teams went into the half with the game in the balance at a goal a piece however the Argentine proved the difference in the second half with his deadly finishing to keep Rafa Benitez’s team 9 points clear of Fiorentina.

Fiorentina kept pace with a 5-3 win at Hellas Verona with two goals from Alberto Aquilani, while fifth-place Inter Milan handled Sampdoria, 4-0, behind a brace from Mauro Icardi.

Bologna’s 1-1 draw with Parma moved the club three points above the relegation places, Livorno stayed in the bottom three after losing 4-2 to Chievo, which got a hat trick from Alberto Paloschi, Torino scored two goals in stoppage time to steal a 2-1 win over Genoa, and AC Milan earned a 1-0 victory over Catania on the strength of a Ricardo Montolivo goal.

On Monday Sebastian Giovinco and Fernando Llorente provided the first half goals to move Juventus 8 points clear of nearest rivals Roma with 5 games left.

Juventus remain unbeaten at home and have suffered only 2 defeats all season.
