Juventus threw away a chance to extend its
lead at the top of the table on Saturday as it settled for a point in a 1-1
draw with Genoa at Juventus Stadium.

The match was scoreless at halftime, but the home side managed to get in front
in the 54th minute when Fabio Quagliarella redirected a low cross into the
back of the net at the near post.

Genoa’s deficit lasted just 13 minutes as the visitors capitalized on some
slack marking shortly after. Marco Borriello met a delivery at the back post
with a diving header to bring the lowly Serie A club on level terms.

Juventus was denied a stonewall penalty late on when a Genoa defender
blatantly handled the ball in the box, but play was allowed to continue as
both sides earned a share of the spoils.

Juventus improves to 49 points on the season to go six points clear at the
top, failing to take advantage of Lazio’s draw earlier on Saturday.

Genoa snaps a two-game losing skid but still remains in the relegation zone on
18 points.

Chievo 1, Lazio 0

Rome, Italy – Lazio wasted an opportunity to close the gap at the top of the
Serie A table on Saturday, falling to Chievo, 1-0, at the Stadio Olimpico.

The two sides remained scoreless until the hour mark when Alberto Paloschi
produced the lone goal of the game to keep Lazio on 43 points, now six points
back of Juventus.

Chievo climbs to 11th place with 28 points on the season.
