Haas and Hewitt exit Delray Beach

Top seed Tommy Haas and former world number 1 Lleyton Hewitt both made early exits at the Delray Beach Open in Florida.

Haas a winner in Delray in 2006 was stunned by American qualifier Steve Johnson in 3 sets while 2012 runner up Marinko Matosevic was leading Hewitt in the first set when the Australian was forced to withdraw due to a shoulder injury.

Another retirement came in the shape of Ivo Karlovic who was down against 2012 winner Kevin Anderson the Croat complaining of a stomach ailment.

In a battle of left handers Feliciano Lopez came from behind to beat Adrian Mannarino in 3 sets and Marin Cilic continued his rich vein of form by flooring Benjamin Becker in straight sets.
