Fabian’s brace leads Guadalajara past Leon

Marco Fabian tallied two goals to lead
Guadalajara to its second win of the season on Sunday as the hosts topped
Leon, 2-1.

With five draws from its first seven matches, Guadalajara was in need of three
points on Sunday, and Fabian’s first goal 11 minutes into the contest put the
club on course for the win.

Matias Britos equalized for Leon shortly after the hour mark, but Fabian
claimed the win for his side by scoring 11 minutes from time to give
Guadalajara 11 points from its first eight games.

On Friday, America sustained its second defeat of the season in a 1-0 setback
at Santos, which got a first-half goal from Carlos Quintero before Juan Carlos
Rodriguez failed to extend the lead by missing a 56th-minute penalty kick.

Morelia topped Pachuca, 3-2, in the other contest on Friday, while Saturday’s
action was highlighted by a 2-1 win for Tigres at Cruz Azul.

Emanuel Villa scored a pair of first-half goals for Tigres, which remains
three points clear at the top of the league, while Cruz Azul could only manage
one goal after the break through Christian Gimenez.

Monterrey cruised to a 3-0 win over Puebla behind two goals from Aldo De
Nigris, UNAM netted a pair of goals early in the second half to win at San
Luis, 2-0, goals from Raul Arambula and Duvier Riascos helped Tijuana to a 2-0
win over Atlante, Queretaro and Atlas played to a 0-0 draw and Flavio Santos
tallied the winning goal in the 77th minute to lead Toluca to a 2-1 win over
Jaguares.
