BoSox add Mujica to bullpen

Updated: December 7, 2013

Boston, MA ( – The Boston Red Sox have signed pitcher Edward
Mujica to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Yahoo! Sports earlier this week
reported the pact to be worth $9.5 million.

Mujica earned 37 saves last season for the St. Louis Cardinals and was an All-
Star for the first time, but struggled toward the end of the campaign and lost
his job to Trevor Rosenthal. Mujica, who was 2-1 with a 2.78 ERA in 65 games
last year, made just two appearances in the postseason and did not pitch in
the World Series against the Red Sox.

The 29-year-old right-hander owns a career mark of 19-19 with a 3.75 ERA and
41 saves in 381 major league games, all but four out of the bullpen, with the
Indians, Padres, Marlins and Cardinals.
