Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) – The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled relievers
David Hernandez and Tony Sipp from Triple-A Reno as teams were able to expand
their active rosters on Sunday.

Both pitchers were sent to the Pacific Coast League in August after spending
the majority of the season with the Diamondbacks.

Hernandez, Arizona’s primary setup man in each of the last two seasons,
struggled to a 5.59 earned run average along with a 4-6 record and two saves
in 48 appearances prior to being optioned to Reno on Aug. 11. The right-hander
posted a solid 2.50 ERA and racked up 98 strikeouts in just 68 1/3 innings for
the D’backs last year.

Sipp, acquired from Cleveland as part of a three-team trade back in December,
was sent to Triple A on Aug. 4 after going 3-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 48 games.
The lefty specialist held the opposition scoreless in eight of his nine
outings with Reno.
