Padres activate Blanks, option Bass

Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – The San Diego Padres have activated
infielder/outfielder Kyle Blanks from the 15-day disabled list and optioned
right-handed pitcher Anthony Bass to Triple-A Tucson.

Blanks has been sidelined since July 11 with left Achilles tendinitis. He has
hit .256 with eight home runs and 34 RBI in 69 games this season.

Bass appeared in two games since being recalled on August 26, giving up five
runs over 3 1/3 innings. In three stints with the Padres this season, he has
posted a 5.11 ERA in 19 appearances.
