Marquez dominates again in Sepang
Marc Marquez completed first free practice ahead of the Moto GP season with another stunning display of pace on day 3 at Sepang in Malaysia.
Spaniard Marquez became the first rookie to win the Moto GP Championship last year on his Honda and has shown his intentions to claim a second crown by dominating all 3 days of testing.
On Thursday Marquez squeezed everything he could from his Honda and in the process blitzed his way to a new circuit record of 1 minute, 59,533 beating the record set by former world champion Casey Stoner in 2012.
In perfect conditions it wasn’t only Marquez that produced his quickest time all week as the Yamaha duo of Rossi and Lorenzo came home second and third respectively.
Six times wold champion and crowd favourite Valentino Rossi pushed Marquez all the way finishing 0.194 seconds behind the Spaniard, suggesting that the Italian could be a front runner this season following a below average season in 2013 in his first year back with Yamaha.
Honda’s Dani Pedrosa endured a difficult day coming home 6th more than half a second behind team mate Marquez.
All the teams return to Sepang from the 26-28 February after which they will test once more at Phillip Island in Australia before the season opener in Qatar on the 23rd of March.
