Sioux Falls’ Liggins takes weekly honors
New York, NY (Sports Network) – DeAndre Liggins of the Sioux Falls Skyforce
was today named NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played
Monday, Dec. 23 – Sunday, Dec. 29.
Liggins, a 6-6, 209 pound guard from Kentucky, led Sioux Falls to a 2-1 record
last week, including a Christmas day victory over the Iowa Energy. Liggins
averaged 23.0 points, while shooting 48 percent from the field, to go with 9.7
rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.7 blocks. He began with an 18-point,
11-rebound double-double, adding eight assists in the 112-99 win over the
Energy on Christmas day. Liggins finished the week with two more contests
against the Energy, scoring more than 20 points in both outings.
The honor is the first for Liggins, who is averaging 16.1 points, 7.9
rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.7 steals and 39.6 minutes in 13 games, all starts,
for Sioux Falls this season.
Other top performers considered include Maine’s Frank Faines, Rio Grande
Valley’s Robert Covington, on assignment from the Houston Rockets, Santa Cruz’
Dewayne Dedmon, Sioux Falls’ Justin Hamilton, Springfield’s Dennis Horner,
