New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Philadelphia 76ers rookie point guard
Michael Carter-Williams and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love were
named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively,
for games played Oct. 29-Nov. 3.

Both players guided their respective teams to 3-0 records in the opening week.

Carter-Williams became the first rookie to win the award in his initial week
of
play since Shaquille O’Neal accomplished the feat in the first week of the
1992-93 season.

In his NBA debut against the two-time defending champion Miami Heat, Carter-
Williams flirted with a quadruple-double, racking up 22 points, 12 assists,
nine steals, and seven rebounds. The nine steals were the most by any player
in an NBA debut.

Through three games, the Syracuse product is averaging 20.7 points, 9.0
assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.3 steals.

Love, meanwhile, led the Timberwolves to their first 3-0 start in 12 years
after averaging a league-best 29.7 points while pulling down 14.7 rebounds per
game.

Love sank the game-tying three-pointer to force overtime in an eventual
120-115 win over Orlando in Minnesota’s season-opener before posting 34
points, 15 rebounds, and five assists in a 109-100 win against the New York
Knicks on Sunday.
