Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) – The San Francisco 49ers have signed wide
receiver Kassim Osgood to a one-year contract and placed linebacker Nick Moody
on the injured reserve with a designation to return.

Moody, a 2013 sixth-round pick by the 49ers, suffered a right hand injury
during the season opener against the Green Bay Packers. He will be eligible to
return to practice in six weeks and can return to game action two weeks later.

Osgood, a 10-year veteran of the NFL, spent most of training camp with the
49ers before being released on Aug. 31. He has been a two-time All-Pro and
three-time Pro Bowl selection on special teams.

During the course of his career, Osgood has played in 152 games and has 122
special teams tackles. He’s also contributed on offense with 44 receptions for
749 yards and five touchdowns.

Osgood originally signed with the San Diego Chargers in 2003 as an undrafted
free agent. He played seven seasons with the Chargers, then signed with
Jacksonville in 2010 and played for two seasons with the Jaguars before
spending the 2012 campaign with the Detroit Lions.
