Atlanta continue winning start, 49ers and Giants power to wins

On a high scoring Sunday of NFL action, Atlanta continued their winning streak to 5-0 at Washington, San Francisco and New York flexed their muscles, while New England came out on top against Denver, despite a class performance by Manning.

In Washington, Atlanta left it to the fourth quarter to extend their unbeaten start to the season, defeating Washington 24-17, Matt Ryan again the star with 345 yards and 2 touch downs. It was a hard fought win for the Falcons, scoring 17 points in the last quarter for another away win, their 3rd of the season. Atlanta are now way out front at the top of the NFC South.

The Giants were stunned into action at home, going 14-0 down in the first quarter to the Browns, however 5 successive touch downs eventually settled the game in the defending champions favour, 27-41.

Miami, Indianapolis and Baltimore all came out on top in tight games against, Cincinnati, Green Bay and Kansas respectively, Baltimore improving their record to 4-1 cementing their position at the top of the AFC North.

In one of the toughest groups, the NFC West, San Francisco showed their quality with a comprehensive 45-3 thrashing of the Bills, Smith leading the way with 303 passing yards and 3 touch downs.

In other results, Pittsburgh defeated the Eagles 16-14, Chicago thrashed Jacksonville 41-3, Minnesota powered to a 30-7 win against Tennessee, while New Orleans left it late to beat the Charges 31-24.

In one of the big games of the weekend, Peyton Manning came out on top in the battle of the quarter backs with Tom Brady. Despite Mannings contribution of 345 yards and 3 touch downs it was New England that came away with the win 31-21, leaving them top of the AFC East.
