Pittsburgh hold off Giants, Atlanta remain unbeaten, Manning rallies Broncos

Matt Ryan led the way at the Georgia Dome with another home win for Atlanta over Dallas, and in the process keeping their unbeaten start to the season going. Peyton Manning recovered from two early intercepts to lead the Broncos to a win over the Bengals, Arizona continued their losing streak with a 5th consecutive beating, this time at the hands of the Packers. Tampa continued their recovery with a win over Oakland in a high scoring affair, while Baltimore kept their good form running with a win over Cleveland. Chicago, Detroit, the Colts, Carolina, Houston and Seattle were all winners on an exciting day of NFL Sunday week 9.

All eyes were on the Falcons yesterday, as Dallas were at the Georgia Dome looking to end their unbeaten start to the season. It wasn’t a spectacular performance by the home team, however a win is a win. Matt Ryan provided a season high 342 yards, Matt Bryant contributed with 4 field goals while Michael Turner rushed for 102 yards, including a tie breaking 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, in a 19-13 win.

At the Metlife stadium, Pittsburgh ended the Giants 4 game winning streak with  2 fourth quarter touchdowns to win 24-20, Ben Roethlisberger leading the way for the Steelers with 216 yards and 2 touchdowns and Isaac Redman rushing for 142 yards including a game winning 1 yard run in the last quarter.

Green Bay moved their winning streak to 4 when they piled more misery on Arizona with a 31-17 win. Arizona have now lost 5 straight games since their season opening run of 4 unbeaten. Green Bay remain second in the NFC North, behind Chicago who powered to a 51-20 win over the Titans, their highest total since 1980, and their sixth consecutive win.

In the AFC South, Houston moved to 7-1 with a 21-9 win over Buffalo, consolidating their position at the top, while Adam Vinatieri slotted a 43 yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give the Colts a tight win over Miami 23-20.

In the AFC North, Baltimore improved their record to 6-2 when they defeated Cleveland 25-15, while Tampa won their second straight game, this time beating Oakland 42-32, Martin rushing for a franchise record 251 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Adrian Peterson starred again for Seattle with 182 yards and 2 touchdowns in their 30-20 win over the Vikings, while there were also wins for Detroit and Carolina over Jacksonville and Washington.

In Cincinnati, the experience of Peyton Manning gave the Broncos a fourth quarter win over the Bengals by 31-23. Manning recovered from 2 early intercepts to drive his team to victory with 291 yards and 3 touchdowns. Denver now sit top of the AFC West.

Week 9 of the NFL concludes tonight, with Philadelphia making the journey to New Orleans. Despite still sitting second in the NFC East, the Eagles will be looking for a win tonight following a 3 match losing streak, while the Saints will rely on team leaders Brees Thomas and Colston to deliver in front of the home fans.
