Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) – Daniel Alfredsson scored his second goal 63
seconds into overtime as the Detroit Red Wings edged the Calgary Flames, 3-2,
at Joe Louis Arena.
The Red Wings got a power play when Calgary defenseman TJ Brodie was whistled
for hooking with 42 seconds left in regulation. On the ensuing power play,
Pavel Datsyuk fed Alfredsson for a one-timer in the slot.
Jonas Gustavsson made 20 saves for the Red Wings, who snapped a six-game
winless streak (0-4-2) and avoided a sixth consecutive loss at home.
Mikael Backlund and Mark Giordano both scored for Calgary, which fell to 1-1-2
on its five-game road trip. Karri Ramo stopped 35 shots in defeat.
