Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – Patrick Dwyer’s goal less than a minute into
the second period proved to be the game-winner, as the Carolina Hurricanes
handed the Colorado Avalanche their first road loss of the season with a 2-1
triumph on Tuesday at PNC Arena.

Jordan Staal notched a goal and an assist, Nathan Gerbe added a pair of
helpers, and Justin Peters posted 33 saves to send Carolina to its third win
in four tries.

Paul Stastny scored the lone Colorado goal, while Semyon Varlamov stopped 26
shots for the Avalanche, who had won a franchise record-tying six straight
road games to open the season.
