Coyotes crush Oilers

Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) – Mikkel Boedker and Mike Ribeiro each had
one goal and two assists in the Phoenix Coyotes’ 6-2 victory over the Edmonton
Oilers on Tuesday.

Radim Vrbata, Shane Doan and David Moss all had one goal and an assist for the
Coyotes, who had lost four of five coming in. Keith Yandle also lit the lamp.

Mike Smith stopped 31-of-33 shots in the victory.

David Perron scored twice for the Oilers, who started a five-game homestand on
Tuesday. Devan Dubnyk turned aside 27-of-33 shots.

The Coyotes drew first blood at the 3:37 mark of the first period. While on
the power play, Boedker put home a rebound following David Schlemko’s shot
from the high slot.

Perron tied the game at 9:51, capitalizing on a giveaway by Schlemko, who gave
the puck away to Mark Arcobello. Arcobello dropped it back to Perron, who
scored on a shot from between the circles.

Vrbata gave the Coyotes a 2-1 lead at 6:58 of the middle stanza, scoring off a
centering pass from Ribeiro. Just 58 seconds later, Doan deflected Ribeiro’s
shot from the point past Dubnyk.

Perron got the Oilers within one with 51.3 seconds remaining in the second
stanza. While on the power play, Ales Hemsky controlled the puck behind the
net before finding Perron in front.

Ribeiro found the back of the net at 4:46 of the third frame following a
turnover by Oilers defenseman Justin Schultz.

Yandle made it a 5-2 game at 9:33, firing a shot over Dubnyk’s shoulder from
the left circle. Less than a minute later, Moss put home a rebound to account
for the final margin.

Game Notes

Phoenix started a four-game road trip on Tuesday … The Oilers fell to 3-9-0
at Rexall Place this season … Edmonton was without center Boyd Gordon (upper
body) on Tuesday … Phoenix went 1-for-3 on the power play, while the Oilers
went 1-for-6 on the man advantage.
