Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) – Brian Flynn and Jochen Hecht scored 12 seconds apart late in the third period, lifting the Buffalo Sabres over the Ottawa Senators, 4-2. Luke Adam and Steve Ott also lit the lamp for the Sabres, who sit four points out of the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. Ryan Miller made 35 saves for Buffalo, which has won two in a row since a four-game skid. Marc Methot and Eric Gryba scored for the Senators, who remained tied for fifth place the East with idle Toronto. Robin Lehner stopped 26-of-30 shots in defeat.

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) – Jussi Jokinen scored the lone goal in the shootout as Pittsburgh edged the New York Rangers, 2-1, in the back end of a home-and-home set from CONSOL Energy Center. Jokinen beat Henrik Lundqvist with a trademark wrister while skating from right to left across the slot in the first round, and though two more of his new teammates failed to score, Marc-Andre Fleury turned away all three New York chances. Jokinen also provided the sole regulation tally for the Penguins, who avenged a 6-1 loss in Manhattan to the Rangers on Wednesday and snapped a two-game slide. Fleury ended up with 34 saves as Pittsburgh won its 10th consecutive home game that was decided in a shootout. Rick Nash scored and Lundqvist made 26 stops for the Rangers, who had won two in a row.

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) – David Backes scored the game-winning goal late in the second period as St. Louis posted a 3-1 win over Columbus at Scottrade Center. Chris Stewart and Patrik Berglund also rippled the net for the Blues, who have won three in a row since dropping four of five. Jake Allen snagged the victory thanks to 26 saves. Artem Anisimov provided the lone offense for the Blue Jackets, whose three-game win streak came to an end. Sergei Bobrovsky stopped only 16 pucks in the setback.

Denver, CO (Sports Network) – Pavel Datsyuk scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 15.4 seconds left in overtime, and the Detroit Red Wings beat the Colorado Avalanche, 3-2. Gustav Nyquist also lit the lamp for the Red Wings, who sit seventh in the Western Conference with 43 points. Jimmy Howard made 33 saves. Mark Olver and PA Parenteau scored for the Avalanche, who have lost three in a row. Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 28-of-31 shots.

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) – Kari Lehtonen posted 27 saves to help the Dallas Stars take a 3-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday. Alex Chiasson, Eric Nystrom and Lane MacDermid all scored for the Stars, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Andrew Cogliano scored the only goal of the game for the Ducks, who had won three of four coming in. Viktor Fasth stopped 22 shots in the loss.

Final Score: San Jose 2, Calgary 1

San Jose, CA (Sports Network) – Joe Pavelski scored the winner late in the third period as the San Jose Sharks took a 2-1 decision over the Calgary Flames on Friday. Dan Boyle scored the other goal while Antti Niemi made 23 stops for the Sharks, who have won seven straight games. With 46 points, the team moved a point ahead of Los Angeles for fourth place in the Western Conference. Mikael Backlund scored the lone goal of the game for the Flames, who have lost 12 straight games on the road. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 39 shots in the loss.
