Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) – Marquette athletic director Larry Williams
is resigning after two years on the job, the university announced Friday.

“We appreciate Larry’s contributions to Marquette University, particularly for
leading us into the newly reconfigured Big East and helping establish a unique
partnership with Fox Sports,” interim Marquette president Rev. Robert A. Wild
said in a statement.

Bill Cords, who was Marquette’s athletic director from 1987-2006, will fill
the role again on an interim basis until a permanent replacement is named.

Wild said he has “the utmost confidence that our athletic programs will be in
good hands” under Cords

Williams was resigning “to pursue leadership opportunities outside of
Marquette,” the school said.
