Palace dent Liverpool’s title hopes

A spectacular comeback by Crystal Palace looks to have ended Liverpool’s Premiership title aspirations as they came from behind to share the points in a 3-3 draw at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool who last won the League title 24 years ago seemed to be cruising to victory, Allen, Sturridge and Suarez giving the Reds a comfortable 3-0 lead until a stunning final 12 minutes that sawpalace come back from the dead with 3 unanswered goals to level matters and hand Manchester City the title initiative.

Palace were fortunate to pull a goal back when Delaney’s long-range shot took a nasty deflection on its way past goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.

Two minutes later, Yannick Bolasie picked out Gayle for a first-time finish from 12 yards and then the remarkable comeback was complete in the 88th minute when Glenn Murray flicked a ball on for Gayle, who ran through the middle of the defense and slotted his shot underneath Mignolet.

Liverpool returns to the top of the league with the result, but the club is now just one point clear of City, which can take hold of the title race with a win over Aston Villa on Wednesday.
