Sri Lanka advanced to the final of the T20 World Cup at the expense of Pakistan courtesy of a 16 run win.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat before posting 139 for four on a dry and dusty pitch which did little to aid strokeplay.

Off-spinner Herath then claimed 3-25 off four overs as Pakistan stumbled to 123 for seven.

They now await the winner of today’s game between the Windies and Australia.

Sri Lanka 139 for 4 (Jayawardene 42, Dilshan 35) beat Pakistan 123 for 7 (Hafeez 42, Herath 3-25) by 16 runs
