United crush Newcastle, Messi and Ronaldo star in “El Classico”

In a big day of European football action, only Manchester United and Inter Milan secured all the points in the big match ups. In a top of the table clash in France, PSG and Marseille played out a 2-2 draw, and at the Camp Nou it was the Messi and Ronaldo show as the both scored a brace to share the points.

In the Premiership, Manchester United put their loss to Spurs last week behind them with an impressive win at Newcastle, lifting them to second in the table 4 points behind leaders Chelsea. Goals from Evra, Evans and Cleverley completing the rout.

Liverpool’s problems continued as they were held to a goalless draw at home to stoke. Still no home win for Rogers this season in the league, and coupled with the fact that they are in 14th place, the pressure must surely be building on Rogers.

At White Hart Lane, Tottenham secured their third successive league win, 2-0 against Villa, moving them up to 5th, while Southampton defender Jose Fonte headed a late equaliser to salvage a 2-2 draw against Fulham in a dramatic finish at St Mary’s.

In France, Marseille and PSG played out an exciting 2-2 draw to leave them 1 and 2 on the table respectively. Gignac and Ibrahimovic both scoring a brace, the latter topping the goalscoring charts in the league with 9.

In Germany, Bayern Munich made it 7 wins from 7, with another class performance at home, defeating TSG Hoffenheim 2-0, Ribery with both goals. Bayern are surging clear at the top, 5 points clear of Eintracht Frankfurt and 9 clear of defending champions Dortmund who were held 1-1 away to Hannover 96.

All eyes in Italy were on the San Siro, as the first Milan derby of the season took place. Walter Samuel struck for Inter in the 3rd minute, which is how the scored remained. Inter hung on in a scrappy game with 10 men to secure the points. Milan now only have 7 points from 7 games, their worst start in 80 years. In contrast the win for Inter leaves them in 4th 4 points off the top.

Juventus kept their unbeaten run in Serie A going with a 2-1 win against Siena. Juve now haven’t been beaten in 46 games and sit top of the table level on points with Napoli.

Napoli continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 2-1 win against Udinese, while Lazio remain in 3rd with a comprehensive 3-0 win away against Pescara, Klose with a brace.
