2012 Green Jacket winner Bubba Watson, tamed the back nine of the Augusta National to move into a 3 shot lead at the half way point of the 78th US Masters.

Watson, a tour winner already this season at the Northern Trust Open, shot 5 birdies and a bogey down the back nine on his way to a second round 68 to sit on 7 under par going into the weekend.

Australian John Sneden fired a 63 to finish 3 shots off Watson on 4 under.

Tomas Bjorn rolled back the years with a 68 and a share of third place on 3 under alongside Jonas Blixt, Jordan Spieth and defending champion Adam Scott.

Fred Couples continued his good Masters form finishing round two on 2 under alongside 3 times PGA Tour winner this season, Jimmy Walker and Jim Furyk.

Rory McIlroy sunk a four foot put on the 18th to make the cut which came at 4 over par, the former world number 1 struggling to 5 over par for the day.

A host of former Major winners and big names wont feature over the weekend as Charl Schwartzel, Webb Simpson, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Graeme McDowell, Angel Cabrera, Zach Johnson, Keegan Bradley, Luke Donald, Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson all fell by the wayside.

It is the first time since 1994 that neither Tiger Woods or Phil Mickelson won’t feature over the weekend at the Augusta National.
