Matt Jones secured a maiden PGA Tour title when he defeated Matt Kuchar in a Play-off to win the Houston Open.

Jones closed with a 6 under, 66 to draw level with Kuchar on 15 under par who lost his nerve on the 18th when he found water with his second shot.

Jones then finished in spectacular style when he chipped in for a birdie on the first extra hole to complete a first Tour win.

Sergio Garcia completed an impressive week finishing 2 shots further back for third place with Cameron Tringale a shot further back.

Rory McIlroy shot one of the rounds of the day when he closed with a 7 under 65 to finish overall on 8 under and a share of seventh.

Phil Mickelson dampened any rumors that he might join Tiger Woods on the Masters casualty list when he completed his preparations for the first Major of the year finishing a shot behind McIlroy on 7 under.
