Kaymer lifts Players Championship

Martin Kaymer kept it together despite a rain delay to close with a final round 1 under 71, to win the Players Championship at Sawgrass by 1 shot.

Jim Furyk fired a 6-under 66 to gain second place at minus 12. Furyk was the runner-up for the second straight week, and he collected his fourth top 5 finish in the last 12 years at the Players and the 27th of his PGA Tour career.

Sergio Garcia, the 2008 champion, closed with a 2-under 70 to grab third place at 11-under while rreigning U.S. Open champion Justin Rose shot a closing 3 under 69 to for a share of fourth place at 10 under alongside Jordan Spieth, who struggled to a 2 over 74.

Jimmy Walker, a three-time winner this season, equaled the low round of the day with his 7 under 65 and was joined in sixth place at 9 under by David Hearn, Lee Westwood, Francesco Molinari and Rory McIlroy who fired a closing 66.
