Reed clings on to lift WGC
A nervous finish almost got the better of Patrick Reed however he clung on to win the WGC by a shot for his 3rd PGA Tour title.
Reed bogeyed 2 of the last 4 holes to finish the tournament on 4 under par, 1 shot clear of former Masters Champion Bubba Watson.
Watson went round in 4 under to finish tied second with Jamie Donaldson while Richard Sterne and Dustin Johnson finished tied fourth on even par underlining the difficulty of the newly revamped Blue Monster.
Tiger Woods who romped to a third round 6 under leaving him well placed to lift the title for the 8th time, faded away in the final round with a 6 over 78, the world number 1 again being plagued by back spasms for the second consecutive week, not good news barely a month ahead of the Masters.
Reed a winner at Humana a few weeks back became the youngest winner of a WGC event and has also seen him surge into third place on both the PGA Tour money list and the FedExCup standings.
