Lisbon, Portugal (SportsNetwork.com) – FC Porto saw its lead at the top of the
Portuguese Liga reduced to one point over the weekend after the club was held
to a 1-1 draw at home by Nacional.

Jackson Martinez put Porto in front in the 52nd minute, but the defending
champions were denied an eighth win in 10 games by an equalizing goal from
Mario Rondon eight minutes from time.

That result allowed both Sporting Lisbon and Benfica to close the gap on the
leaders, with both sides recording 1-0 victories.

Benfica claimed the narrow triumph over Braga thanks to a goal from Nemanja
Matic in the 73rd minute, while Sporting waited even later to gain separation
from Guimaraes with Islam Slimani scoring the lone goal in stoppage time.

Estoril ends the weekend in fourth place after a pair of second-half goals
from Luis Leal helped the side to a 2-0 win at Rio Ave.

Alexandre Soares tallied the winning goal in the 55th minute of a 3-2 win for
Maritimo over Gil Vicente, Setubal topped Arouca, 1-0, behind Ramon Cardozo’s
34th-minute strike, Fernando Neto’s first-half tally was the difference as
Pacos Ferreira downed Belenenses, 1-0, while Monday’s contest saw Academica
edge Olhanense, 1-0.
