Ireland open campaign wwith a win

Ireland underlined their credentials as potential Six Nations Champions with a 28-6 victory over Scotland at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland dealt with the early Scottish onslaught to come out on top and erase memories of last season that saw them endure their worst campaign in 14 years

Andrew Trimble, Jamie Heaslip, Rob Kearney all crossed the line for the home team while Sexton backed them up with the boot.

Ireland next meet holders Wales, who eased past Italy, in Dublin on Saturday, while Scotland host England, who went down 26-24 to France in their opening fixture.

Italy travel to France on Sunday.
