Frisco, TX (Sports Network) – FC Dallas left it late but managed to claim
three points from a 3-1 defeat of Vancouver Whitecaps FC at FC Dallas Stadium
on Saturday.

The two sides exchanged goals in the opening eight minutes of the match and
remained level until the dying stages when Mauro Diaz produced the go-ahead
goal and Jair Benitez added one for insurance.

The result sees Dallas (10-7-10) extend its unbeaten streak to three games as
the club improves to 40 points on the season, while Vancouver (10-10-7) drops
to seventh place in the West on 37 points.

The visitors needed just four minutes to get on the scoresheet as Daigo
Kobayashi guided home a low cross from Kenny Miller to hand Vancouver a shock
lead.

But Dallas regrouped and leveled the score just four minutes later as Je-
Vaughn Watson sent a laser into the upper corner from distance.

It looked as though the two sides would split the points, but Diaz struck in
the 87th minute by volleying a cross from Fabian Castillo into the upper
corner.

Benitez put the victory beyond any doubt in the 90th minute, catching David
Ousted off his line and chipping a shot from mid-field that was just out of
reach for the Whitecaps goalkeeper.
