Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) – Devon Sandoval helped Real Salt Lake snap a
two-game slide as he produced the lone goal at BC Place on Saturday to give
the Claret and Cobalt a 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Sandoval struck early in the match as he made a deep run into the penalty area
to get on the end of a cross from Lovel Palmer and fire a brilliant snap
header past David Ousted in the ninth minute.

It proved to be all Real Salt Lake would need to collect all three points as
the visitors staved off a great deal of pressure from the ‘Caps to improve to
51 points on the season.

The win brings Salt Lake one point clear at the top of the Western Conference
table, though second-place Seattle Sounders FC, which has played three fewer
games, can reclaim pole position with a victory over Red Bull New York on
Sunday.

Vancouver is winless in its last three home matches, leaving the club in sixth
place in the West on 41 points.
