Robin Van Persie lays in wait at Old Trafford, as Arsenal make the trip to Manchester in the Premiership big clash of the weekend.

Van Persie signed off from his old club last season with 37 goals in a remarkable season for the Dutchman, and this term so far his contribution has been telling for his new club, with 7 goals in the Premiership. Arsene Wnger will be hoping that he doesn’t add to that tally tomorrow at Old Trafford.

One thing is for sure there will be goals. Both teams have conceded 41 goals between them in the last 8 matches, 10 of those coming in 2 games during the midweek League Cup fixtures. Also taking into consideration the quality up front, for United Rooney and Van Persie, and for the Gunners Walcott and Podolski, both keepers will be severely tested throughout the 90 minutes. Arsenal will be without the influential Gervinho who has been ruled out for three weeks with an ankle injury.

Arsenal are sixth while United will start Saturday’s Premier League encounter in second after their controversial 3-2 win against leaders Chelsea.

Chelsea might have lost their unbeaten record last week, however they still remain top of the league. They travel to Swansea on Saturday still without the services of skipper John Terry, who is serving the last of his 4 match ban.

If Chelsea slip up, United or Manchester City could take over at the top if they win. City have been inconsistent this season, and will hope to put that right this weekend at Upton Park, when they take on West Ham.

Tottenham Hotspur will also be looking to consolidate their place in the top four after five wins from their last six league matches when they face Wigan Athletic at White Hart Lane. Spurs climbed above Everton and Arsenal with their 2-1 win at Southampton last week.

Sunderland and Stoke will both be hoping to avoid sharing the points again, as they take on Aston Villa and Norwich respectively, while on Sunday QPR host Reading and Liverpool welcome Newcastle.
