Barcelona are through to the Champions League semi-finals after seeing off AC Milan 3-1 in their quarter-final second leg at the Camp Nou last night to progress 3-1 on aggregate.

Two Lionel Messi penalties either side of a crisply taken Antonio Nocerino strike saw Barca ahead at half-time. Andrés Iniesta’s calm finish gave the defending champions some breathing space and a frustrated Milan were unable to find a way back into the game.

The Catalans will now travel to either Chelsea or Benfica for the semi-final first leg in two weeks time. This will be their fifth successive season at this stage of the competition, equalling a record set by La Liga rivals Real Madrid from 1956 to 1960. Messi also entered the record books again improving his tally in Europe to 14 a new season record and now stands at an amazing 58 goals in all competitions this season.

In the nights other game Bayern cruised to a 2-0 win over Marseille setting up what could be a likely semi encounter with Real Madrid.

Real are in action tonight against APOEL. Its unlikely any other result than a Madrid win will be on the cards. Chelsea welcome Benfica to London still with plenty of work to do. They do have the away goal and a 1-0 advantage and with Torres now scoring again and the team playing with more confidence under Di Matteo a semi berth looks likely.
