Manchester City can return to the summit of the Premiership if they can get the result at the Britannia Stadium against Stoke on Saturday. With United not playing until Monday when they take on Fulham at Old Trafford, a win for Mancini and his team will see them go 2 points clear and thrust the pressure back on their bitter rivals.

City will be looking to build on their midweek win against Chelsea, however the debate still rages about the Tevez affair. The Argentine returned against Chelsea after a self imposed exile to help City gain all 3 points with some deft touches, however some still feel he could be a negative influence in their bid to lift their first league title since 1968.

Stamford Bridge plays host to the big game of the weekend as Chelsea take on Spurs in the battle for 4th spot. Spurs have suffered a bad run recently with 3 losses and a draw and are looking to rebuild their season following a spectacular start. Caretaker manager and former Chelsea great Roberto Di Matteo has brought some spirit back into the Chelsea squad and with Captain John Terry passed fit, and Fernando Torres showing signs of rediscovering his goalscoring touch, Harry Redknapp will be concerned about the timing of this fixture.

Arsenal will be looking to consolidate their position in 3rd as they take on Villa at The Emirates. Arsenal are the team on form at present and will be gunning for a 7th consecutive win, a remarkable turnaround if you consider th Gunners form at the beginning of the season.

Liverpool have won the League Cup and are in the semifinals of the FA Cup but their league form remains frustrating, as demonstrated by a midweek 3-2 loss away to strugglers QPR in a match where they were 2-0 up. Kenny Dalglish’s men will look to restore order against relegation candidates Wigan at Anfield while QPR, now out of the bottom three, travel to Sunderland.

Basement club Wolves are away to Norwich while stylish Swansea, the surprise package of the season so far, will look to follow-up a 3-0 win over Fulham at home to Everton.
