Fulham, Stoke and QPR through in FA Cup

Stoke, QPR and Fulham all avoided traditional FA Cup upsets, advancing to the fourth round of the coveted Cup competition.

Jon Walters was the man of the moment for Stoke as he scored twice in extra time to give them the win over Crystal Palace by 4-1 and setting up a replay of the 2011 final with Manchester City.

Premier League Sunderland suffered an upset as they lost 2-0 at home to Championship side Bolton Wanderers, Marvin Soredell scoring twice for the visitors. Bolton take on Everton in the next round.

Harry Redknapp’s Queens Park Rangers, still propping up the Premier League, enjoyed a morale-boosting 1-0 victory at West Bromwich Albion thanks to a last-gasp header from Jay Bothroyd. MK Dons are next in line following their win over Sheffield Wednesday.

Fulham had to fight hard for their 2-1 win in extra time over Blackpool, setting up a meeting with either Manchester United or West Ham who are in action tonight.

Leeds United booked a fourth round clash at home to Tottenham Hotspur after El-Hadji Diouf sealed a 2-1 victory at Birmingham City.

Premier League strugglers Wigan Athletic fielded a shadow squad at third tier Bournemouth but avoided a shock as Mauro Boselli’s goal sealed a 1-0 win on the south coast.

Brentford set up an enticing Cup derby with Chelsea thanks to a 2-1 defeat of fourth tier Southend United.

Championship side Hull City needed extra time to beat third tier Leyton Orient 2-1.

More FA Cup action tonight as Arsenal host Swansea, while United welcome West Ham to Old Trafford.

Round 4 action commences on the 26th of January.
