Juventus’s record Serie A unbeaten run came to an end after 49 matches when a Diego Milito brace helped Inter Milan win 3-1 in the big Northern derby in Turin. In Spain there were also wins for Barca and Real, while Bayern opened up the gap at the top of the Bundesliga with a win at Hamburg.

In Turin, the 3-1 win by Inter Milan over Juventus, extended their winning run to 7, and certainly showed they are genuine title contenders, as they sit now only a point behind Juve.

AC Milan produced their best performance of the season so far with a 5-1 win over Chievo at home. The win moving them up to 7th on 14 points.

In Spain, Real Madrid still trail rivals Barcelona by 8 points as both sides recorded emphatic wins again. Higuain, Di Maria, Essien and Modric got on the score sheet for Real in another impressive win, this time over Zaragoza 4-0. Barca beat Celta Vigo 3-1 and in the process moved their record to 9 wins and a draw from the first 10 days, a new record.

In France, PSG remain top despite being stunned by a resurgent St. Etienne who won 2-1, with Ibrahimovic being sent off. There is now only 5 points separating the top 7 in a very congested League table. Marseille are in action today, and a win could see them join PSG on points.

Bayern Munich went seven points clear at the top of the Bundesliga as the Bavarian giants cruised to a 3-0 win at Hamburg, while second-placed Schalke 04 suffering a shock 3-2 defeat at Hoffenheim.

Defending champions Borussia Dortmund are fourth after they were held to a goalless draw by VfB Stuttgart and remain four points behind Frankfurt.
