Spain, Germany and England cruise to wins

Pedro showcased his quality with a hat-trick for Champions Spain as they ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Belarus in yesterdays round of World Cup qualifiers. Germany also romped to an away win against the Republic of Ireland with a 6-1 thrashing.

England laboured to a 5-0 win over San Marino at Wembley, a brace of goals each for Wellbeck and Rooney while their former boss Fabio Capello with his new side Russia, shocked Ronaldo and Portugal 1-0 at home.

The Netherlands only managed a 3-0 win over Andorra, while neighbors Belgium enhanced their reputation further with the same scoreline win over Serbia.

Italy secured the points against Armenia with a 3-1 win, while Sweden had to come from behind to register a 2-1 win over the Faroes.

In South America, Colombia sailed toward the 2014 World Cup with a 2-0 win Friday over troubled Paraguay, thanks to a brace from in-form striker Radamel Falcao,

Argentina lead the nine-nation South American group with 17 points from eight matches at the halfway stage. Colombia and Ecuador are one point behind, Uruguay and Chile five behind.
